Paintball Gear Gun Upgrades
How much to start paintball?
I'm interested in starting up a paintball team with some buddies. I was wondering how much it would cost for just the basics? Face protection.. decent auto/semi auto gun.. and of course masses of paintballs.
I would like to upgrade later on with armor and more gear.. but for now just the basic cost. Thanks xD
It depends, you really can't say auto/semi auto gun, they are COMPLETELY different.
For example, if you want to play woodsball then by all means buy a reliable semi auto marker that can take much wear and tear but is very accurate. I would recommend a Tippmann for a reliable semi auto marker, they are fairly cheap and with the addition of a flatline barrel, can outshoot almost any other marker. The Tippmann A5 ($250) and Project Salvo ($150) are great guns, both of which I've used or own. Repeat: they are the MOST reliable guns I know of.
Anyway, for speedball, I would recommend an electric gun (aka automatic) with a high bps (balls per second) and ramping such as an invert mini ($325) or dangerous power G3 ($300-400).
As costs go, woodsballing would definitely be cheaper because you will go through less balls, and woodsball markers are generally cheaper than speedsballing ones. Also, if you have a gun that shoots upwards of 20 bps, you will go through paint like crazy, and good paint is expensive. Seriously, you don't need armour or anything like that....I wear a green t shirt and some BDUs when I go. Face protection is a must, I recommend a V-force mask for around $20, they are nice and comfey.
Don't buy paintballs in masses, buy them when you use them, if you have paint lying around for a long time it degrades, and some places make you buy the paint there (ie. splatter park). Also get your paintballs from a paintball store or an army surplus store, not Walmarts. Some good paintballs I use are Marbilizers and Formula 13s.

As a general thing, paintballing is expensive, and with the addition of an electric hopper such as a halo B or empire (a must for speedballing) and a nice barrel kit (smart parts, redz pepper sticks, ect.) and HPA (high pressure air or compressed air) tank you are looking at anywhere from $300 (really pushing it) to $1200 depending on the quality of your marker.

What to buy for starting paintball (decent budget)?
Ok, so I am going to try out paintball soon, but just in case I like it, what would be the best stuff to buy with 320 dollars? I need gear, as well as the gun and upgrades and such. This doesn't count the ammo though.

It is the most common paintball gun on earth. What makes it so popular is that it is extremely customizable.

You will have a good amount of money left over. After you play once or twice, you will have a good idea of what upgrades you need. If you want to shoot faster, get an electronic trigger. If you want to be more accurate, get a new barrel and a stock. etc.
This is the perfect gun for beginners, and with enough upgrades, the perfect gun for pros too.
If you want to take it one step higher right off the bat, than you can buy the tippmann a5, which is the next step up from the 98 custom. If you decide to get this, get the flatline barrel with it. The stock barrel is terrible, and the flatline makes it one of the best guns out there.

This is a full package right around your price range. I have been playing for many years, and I can tell you that this is the best gun I have ever used.
