Tippmann Paintball Marker Kits
Why are prices so different between big and small businesses?
I am currently shopping around for my first paintball markers. I currently consider getting a Tippmann 98 Custom, ideally a package that comes with mask, hopper, a tank, and cleaning kit.
I came up with two retailers that sell Tippmann 98 Custom packages: Wal-Mart and a Canadian store called Badland Paintball Supplies.
Wal-Mart is selling a package that contains the marker, mask, tank, and maintance package for $149.94.

Whereas Badland Paintball is selling a similiar package, but for $230.

The major difference between them is that Badland comes with a few more gadgets, such as a barrel condom and ER oil (whatever it is). Also, the mask is JT instead of some unnamed brand. The tank is 12 oz instead of 9 oz.
These are only minor differences and there is no way these minor differences accounted for the $100 dollar differences between Wal-Mart and Badland.
The larger the business(Walmart) the more they can buy at one time,they get a volume discount.
Online stores are typically small businesses, with very small orders and do not get the large volume discounts.
Some are buying through a middleman who adds his profit margin before pricing it to the seller, so they have to mark it up even more to make a profit.
